Annunciators

Identify the temperatures displayed by the Digital Display.

CHT Scale

Actual Cylinder Head Temperature scale, used to measure CHT, the non-illuminated bar within the EGT column.

Cylinder Number

Identifies each column at the bottom of the bar-graph display. Each number is surrounded by a "Highlight Box" annunciator.

Digital Temperature Display

Precise values for temperatures can be displayed in numeric format i.e. CHT = 350° F; EGT=1625° F; OAT= -15° F

Display Auto-Brightness Sensor

The intensity of the GEM's brilliant plasma display is automatically controlled for optimum viewing under all light conditions.

EGT/CHT Bar Graph and Reading

The EGT display is interpreted much like a standard mercury thermometer, the higher the bar, the higher the temperature. CHT temperature is displayed on the same column with the exhaust gas reading. It shows a non-illuminated bar in the lower part of the field of orange bars. This "black bar" display method concentrates the information for easy comparison of each cylinder's EGT and CHT at a glance.

Highlight Box

The Highlight Boxes are used to indicate mode of display operation and cylinder selection for the digital display.

Interactive Ergonomic Design

The pilot has complete interactive control via the display buttons or through the Infrared Wireless Interface to the hand-held HP Palmtop Computer.

Invisible Link Transmitter

The GEM's Infra-Red wireless interface, an invisible beam from the GEM face to the Palm Top computer that transfers the stored flight data.

Invisible Link Receiver

The Infra-Red wireless interface, an invisible beam from the Palm Top computer to the GEM, permits simultaneous communication between the two.

Left/Right Reset

The Reset Button is used to switch between Monitor and Lean mode.

Left/Right Select

The select button is used to select which temperature will be shown in the digital display, ie. CHT cylinder #2/EGT cylinder #4

Trend Indicators

Up and Down arrowheads atop each column show the direction of the most recent changes in EGT for each cylinder.
